Suspect Nabbed In Late-Night Stabbing Near Capital Region Park

Police have arrested a suspect in an overnight stabbing attack near a park in the region.

A 33-year-old Troy man is accused of stabbing a man near Albany's Townsend Park early Saturday, Oct. 14.

The incident happened at around 2:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in Albany near Central Avenue and Henry Johnson Boulevard, steps from Townsend Park.

When officers arrived, they found a 42-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to his lower back, according to Albany Police.

He was taken by ambulance to Albany Medical Center Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation pointed to 33-year-old Teyona Lewis, of Troy, as the culprit, according to police.

Lewis was arrested a short time later on suspicion of second-degree assault. He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and released.

Investigators did not say what led up to the attack or whether Lewis and the victim know each other.
